Field Cottage, Peterstow
Field Cottage is a whole country house plus a separate one-bedroom annexe, and you get both. Five bedrooms, seven beds and three bathrooms between them, sleeping ten. The annexe sits about ten metres from the house with its own front door, so a group can be together without being on top of each other.
The house was built in 1850 and refurbished in 2022. It stands on a quiet country lane in Peterstow, with countryside out of every window and no close neighbours. Ross-on-Wye is ten minutes' drive. The garden is enclosed and fully fenced, so dogs and small children can go out of the door without anyone having to think about it.

Four bedrooms: two with king beds, one twin, and a bunk room with full-size singles that adults can sleep in comfortably. There is a shower room downstairs and a bathroom with a bath upstairs. The kitchen is properly stocked, from dishwasher and oven to cafetière, Nespresso and enough pots and pans for ten. Plenty of living space, a dedicated workspace, and wifi at around 72 Mb.
Self-contained, about ten metres from the house, with its own front door and ramp access. A double bedroom and an accessible wet room on the ground floor, a sofa bed in the living space upstairs, and a kitchen with a level entrance. Heating is by heat pump. Whoever takes it gets a bit of quiet without being far from anyone.
The garden runs to a fence on every side, so the gate is not something anyone has to keep an eye on. There is a patio to sit out on, a table to eat at, a charcoal BBQ and a firepit for when the light goes.
Two things have been added since most people last came: a games shed with a pool table and a foosball table, and a playground with a climbing frame, a slide and a swing. Between them, children largely run their own day, which is rather the point of coming.

This our 3rd visit to Field Cottage did not disappoint. The addition of the Games Room proved popular. As usual the properties were clean and well equipped.
The rural location was perfect for us, with three dogs, with plenty of beautiful local walks. The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped, the kids loved the garden.
Set on a quiet lane with a beautiful garden, this was a perfect spring getaway. The house has excellent facilities with lots of pots and pans and plenty of living space to relax and socialise.
The Red Lion is 0.3 miles down the road, close enough to walk both ways, and it does home-cooked food. Peterstow Village Store covers whatever you forgot to pack, and Pengethley Farm Shop is up the A49 and worth a proper visit rather than a quick one.
Ross-on-Wye is ten minutes in the car and Hereford twenty to twenty-five. Symonds Yat, the Forest of Dean, Hay-on-Wye, the Malvern Hills and the Black Mountains are all close enough to get to and back in a day.
